Mhaha, twas the plan to make it some what difficult like Ninja Gaiden. (Although I honestly think Ninja Gaiden is more difficult.)
I literally just beat it. Last two levels are really hard and those spikes are fucking evil. Congrats. It felt just like the old NES. You should make a sequel or another NES-inspired game and put it on Steam. As I mentioned in my critique I'd LOVE to see something like NES Batman, Shatterhand, Power Blade, or Zan: Intergalactic Ninja.
