New Flash Project :D

Posted by SinclairStrange - May 22nd, 2014

Firstly I'd like to say, yay for coming second in Pico Day! I can't believe I actually won something >.<

So anyway, I thought I'd share my next flash project I'm making for dear ol' Newgrounds called Robo-squeak. It's basically a simple Crash Bandicoot-equse clone, featuring a mouse with a plug as a tail.

(The great thing about having a game completion percentage in your game, is that you know how much of the game you've finished designing! :D)

So yeah, I'm just making it to test some code out for my Steam release in October, so I decided to churn out a quick game in the process. It's nothing fancy but hopefully it'll be enjoyable to play. It's also not terribly difficult neither!

So instead of smashing crates, you need to collect all the gems in the level. (So there's a handful of Spyro in the game too :D.) If you collect all the gems in the stage, you get rewarded with a Clear Crystal. There's also 5 hidden bonus gems that unlock special portals in some stages. The stages are pretty short, but they do get more difficult as the game goes on. It's going to have 20 levels with 5 boss battles.

So that's basically what's happening in my world. That and preparing to fly to America very very soon. (If only I wasn't scared of planes...)

Till then, keep it purple.

PM Tom or Wade to get your name changed.

Aye, it's all sorted now :D. Cheers for the advice. :)

Looking forward to it, your games are awesome.
I think the main reason you didn't win the 'best game award' on Pico day is because the game might have been a bit too difficult for casual gamers. Second place is nice though!

I still hope one of your games will go viral, you definitely deserve it.

Tbh Pico Goes To Hell was well more about Pico Day tbh, had all the charm. It was a shame that the rest was lost to a hard-drive crash. I do need to start making my games easier but I'm just a sucker for difficult games >.<

I'm not too worried about going viral, I seriously get more enjoyment out of creating them and people having fun playing them. I don't know what I'd do if any one of them did, I'd think I'll be scared away xD.

ANOTHER GAME? Jeez, don't overload yourself, man.
I do appreciate the frequent updates, it lets us know you're not dead, unlike some people.
Robo-Squeak looks good! Can't wait to play it!

Naw, I've only got two in the works. This and IWTBH :). Tbh this original was testing material for IWTBH that I thought I might as well turn into a full release with all the old assets I've massed through a couple of years :).

I continue loving your stuff and congrats on the pico day win!

Aww thanks dude! :). I didn't spot yours in the mix, I was looking forward to that. :(

All the best with the new game project -- it looks rather beautiful. Might I mention that the first PS2 game I ever got acquainted with was Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, so this'll be a nostalgic trip for me.

Congrats also on winning with Cathode Raybits, it may have been a Mega Man clone but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Well it'll be no-where near as good as the Crash games. It's just a quick project to test stuffs out. I remember my first crash game, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex's strikes back. It's left an impression on me ever since.

Well, if I do something next year for Pico Day, I'm totally doing something original, maybe with Pico this time, although I'd love to do a de-make of Castle Crashers, all 8-bit stuff. :).
